Day 1: Sep 14 (Mon) Honolulu ~ Seattle

1:10 PM          Depart for Seattle, Washington on Hawaiian Airlines flight HA 22. Dinner served on the flight.

9:55 PM          Arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and pick up luggage. Transfer to our Seattle hotel.

Day 2: Sep 15 (Tue) Seattle (B)


Breakfast at hotel. Check out by 12:00 PM, the morning is free for a short trip into the city, you can check out and leave your luggage at the front desk if you wish to go out.

3:30 PM    Depart hotel for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
7:15 PM    Depart for Reykjavik, Iceland on Icelandair flight FI 684. Food available for purchase on flight.

 

Day 3: Sep 16 (Wed) Arrival Day - Reykjavik (B)


9:30 AM    Arrive at Keflavik International Airport and proceed through immigration procedures. Claim your baggage and go through customs inspections, then meet tour escort at the baggage claim area.

Dress warmly for our first day in Reykjavik! We’ll have a welcome breakfast buffet at the Viking World museum, built around the Viking ship Íslendingur, which sailed from Reykjavik to New York in 2000 to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Leif Eriksson's discovery of America, and then we’ll make a visit to the National Museum and Aurora Reykjavík’s Northern Lights Center. After check-in at the hotel early afternoon we’ll have the afternoon and evening at leisure. Lunch and dinner are on your own, if you would like to try exotic Icelandic foods (such as whale, horse, puffin or hakarl – fermented Greenland shark), our night in Reykjavik will be your best opportunity. There is also one of Reykjavik’s popular food halls directly in front of our hotel.

Day 4: Sep 17 (Thu) Golden Circle Express – Blue Lagoon (B, D)


Breakfast at hotel, lunch on your own, dinner at hotel. Bring luggage to lobby for hotel checkout.

Our first day begins with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancient site of the world's first parliament. After a stop at Fontana´s Geothermal Bakery to taste geothermal baked bread we go on to the nearby Geysir area, after which all geysers around the world are named. Strokkur, the most active geyser, erupts high into the air every few minutes. Then, on to the beautiful Gullfoss “Golden waterfalls”, one of the most impressive in Iceland. Afterwards, we will go to the Blue Lagoon where you can take a relaxing bath in the healing mineral waters *Please bring a swimsuit for Blue Lagoon. Swim caps are recommended but not required. Towel, Silica Mud Mask and one drink of your choice included.

Day 5: Sep 18 (Fri) South Coast Day (B, D)


Breakfast at hotel, lunch on your own, dinner at hotel. Bring luggage to lobby for hotel checkout.
 
Today we journey through the stunning landscape of Iceland‘s south coast - wide plains formed by glacial rivers, the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss with its famous path behind the falls, Skógafoss with its hidden chest of gold, and the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach with its views of the sheer sea cliffs of Dyrhólaey. Along the way, we’ll have views of the Hekla (called the "Gateway to Hell" during the Middle Ages) and Eyjafjallajökull (known for the 2010 eruptions that disrupted air travel throughout Europe) volcanoes, and a visit to the brand new Lava Center and the Skogar Museum, a cultural heritage collection of 15,000 folk craft artifacts and rebuilt traditional Icelandic turf houses.

Day 6: Sep 19 (Sat) Glacial Lagoon – Icebergs – Egilsstadir (B, D)

The day starts with a drive through beautiful scenery towards the Vatnajökull, by far the largest glacier in Europe, and a filming location for the HBO fantasy TV series “Game of Thrones”. We will take a boat tour among the icebergs in Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon (which was a setting for four Hollywood movies: A View to a Kill, Die Another Day, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Batman Begins) where huge icebergs dance around in icy seawater. Afterwards we will drive from Hofn through the Almannaskard pass, stopping to admire the majestic coastline and the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords.

Day 7: Sep 20 (Sun) Egilsstadir – Mývatn (B, D)

In the morning we had towards Mývatn over the highland desert plateau Modrudalsoraefi, where NASA astronauts trained before the moon landing! Continue onwards to Namaskard pass with its boiling mud pools, sulfur vents and vibrant colors and then to the Lake Mývatn, famous as the home to more species of ducks than any other place on Earth. We will also visit the Dimmuborgir lava formations where the 13 Yule Lads, prankster sons of the carnivorous trolls Grýla and Leppalúði, are reputed to live.

Day 8: Sep 21 (Mon) Dettifoss – Ásbyrgi – Tjörnes Peninsula (B, D)


Breakfast at hotel, lunch on your own, dinner at hotel.
 
We drive East today on dirt roads to see today’s natural wonders. We stop at Ásbyrgi, the horse-shoe shaped canyon that inspired ancient stories about Sleipnir, Odin’s 8 legged horse. We drive along the Tjörnes peninsula and through Húsavík village – there you will be closest to the Arctic Circle at 66° north latitude, which passes through Grímsey Island just 25 miles away. Then we travel to Dettifoss (featured in the 2012 science-fiction film Prometheus), Europe’s most powerful waterfall, located in the awe-inspiring Jökulsárgljúfur canyon. We will also stop at the Námaskarð pseudo craters in Mývatn.

Day 9: Sep 22 (Tue) Mývatn – North Iceland – Bifröst (B, D)

First stop of the day is at Godafoss, the “waterfall of the gods”. Then we will stop in Iceland’s second largest city – Akureyri, the Capital of the North. Driving through the Skagafjörður district, known as the traditional heart of horse breeding in Iceland, our journey continues through rolling farmlands and across Laxárdalsheiði heath and ends our day close to the Snæfellsnes peninsula in the West, the home of the legendary half human/half troll Bárðr Snæfellsáss.

Day 10: Sep 23 (Wed) Snæfellsjökull National Park – Pebble Beaches (B, D)


Breakfast at hotel, lunch on your own, dinner at hotel.
 
Today we’ll explore the amazing variety of landscapes in Snæfellsjökull National Park -  Snæfellsjökull glacier covers a dormant volcano that last erupted in 250 AD (famous as the entrance of the passage to the center of the Earth “A Journey to the Center of the Earth” by Jules Verne). After we walk through the pebbled seascape of Djúpalónssandur beach we will be able to observe the magnificent basalt rock in stacked formations along the easy trail linking the settlements of Arnarstapi and Hellnar before returning to Bifröst. In Jules Verne's “A Journey to the Center of the Earth”, Arnarstapi was the last stop before the characters climbed Snæfellsjökull and entered the earth though a tunnel in the crater.

Day 11: Sep 24 (Thu) Departure Day Reykjavik - Seattle (B)


Breakfast at hotel. Bring luggage to lobby for hotel checkout.
 
Departure towards Reykjavik via Borgarnes and the 3.5 mile long undersea Hvalfjörður Tunnel. Then make a last stop in Reykjavik to enjoy free time for lunch and shopping at the new Costco (your US membership works here!) – and you’ll also be able to shop at the local Bonus discount supermarket and Ikea right next door!
 
5:05 PM Depart for Seattle, Washington on Icelandair flight FI 681. Food available for purchase on flight.
 
5:55 PM Arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. After immigration inspection meet your tour escort at baggage claim then proceed to customs and transfer to our Seattle hotel. Dinner on your own.

Day 12: Sep 25 (Fri) DEPARTURE DAY Seattle ~ Honolulu (B)


Breakfast at hotel. Bring luggage to lobby for hotel checkout.
 
7:00 AM Transfer to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for our flight to Honolulu.
 
8:50 AM Depart for Honolulu on Hawaiian Airlines flight HA 21.
 
11:50 AM Arrive at Arrive at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. WELCOME HOME!

Deposit and Final Payment:

A $300.00 non-refundable deposit per person will be required at the time of booking.

The remaining balance is due 100 days prior to departure.

If reservation is made less than 100 days prior to departure, full payment is due at time of booking.

If remaining balance of payment is not made within the above-required period of time, JTB USA, Inc. reserves the right to cancel reservations.

2.

Cancellations and Changing Fees:  (Please read very carefully)

Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed bookings. Therefore, the following fees will apply:

Cancellation or any changes within:

* Until final payment: $300 deposit

* From final payment ~ June 12, 2019: 50% of the total tour fee

* June 13, 2019 ~ Departure date:  100% of the total tour fee

Airline tickets are non-refundable after issue. Other additional individual arrangements may not be refundable. Please check with our travel agents.

3.

Participation:

For the benefit of everyone in your tour group, JTB USA, Inc. reserves the right to accept or reject any person as a tour participant, and to remove from the tour any participant whose conduct is deemed incompatible with the interests of the other participants.

We require a minimum of 10 participants to guarantee the tour.

JTB USA, Inc. will notify participants of any changes by 100 days prior to departure.

We regret that our escorted tours will operate only when booked by a sufficient number of participants. We reserve the right to cancel any departure date that has insufficient  demand. 

** There may be a possibility of operating tours with less than 10 participants, but changes to price and itinerary may become necessary.

Responsibility:

The tour participant agrees that neither JTB USA, Inc. nor its affiliates shall be liable for any damage, loss (including personal injury, death, and property loss) or expense occasioned by any act or omission of any supplier providing services, or any insurer or insurance administrator under the Travel Protection Plan, or of any other person, or any other situations beyond the control of JTB USA, Inc., including weather, natural disaster, war, civil unrest, and order of government or immigration regulations.

Land Only:

If you purchase this package as LAND ONLY please be aware that the Land Only designation includes hotels/meals/and sightseeing only. International and domestic air flights as well as transportation to/from airports are not included.
