Book your spot now before they're sold out! Watch sumo wrestling, a 1,500 year old Japanese cultural tradition accompanied by an English-speaking guide. The whole area around Ryogoku Station is filled with the atmosphere of the Grand Sumo Tournament. There are also many chanko stew restaurants run by former sumo wrestlers in this area. After arriving in Ryogoku, stop by the Sumo Museum where you can learn about sumo's long history, then continue on to the Kokugikan arena to watch the real thing. 1. Watch the sumo wrestlers' fierce battles from a comfortable reserved seat. 2. The knowledgeable guide will explain everything you want to know about sumo. 3. This is a very popular tour so we recommend making your booking early. 4. This tour can be joined from various meeting points mainly located at major hotels throughout Tokyo.

Day 1: Tokyo

12:20 - 1:20 p.m.

1:40 p.m.

After arrival @ Hamamatsucho bus terminal, you will walk to Daimon Sta. or Hamamatsucho Sta. to take a train. Move to Ryogoku station and then walk to Ryogoku Kokugikan (Sumo Hall). Enjoy watching sumo tournament.

* Ryogoku kokugikan (Sumo Hall)

- It is a sumo stadium, which is the home of Japan sumo association and exclusive stadium for sumo, seating 11,500. Inside the stadium, there is a sumo museum. It displays exhibits on history of sumo from the Edo period (17-19C) to the present.

* Sumo Tournaments

- The tournaments are held six times a year, and three out of six are held here in Ryogoku kokugikan. The rest of tournaments are held in Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka.


6:00 - 6:30 p.m.

After enjoying the sumo tournament, the tour will disband at Ryogoku Kokugikan.  Then the tour guide will tell you how to go back to your hotel.

Minimum Participants Required

1 person. If the minimum number of participants is not met by 4 days before the scheduled date, the tour on that date may be cancelled.


Participants watch sumo matches from 2nd-floor, B-class chair seating, after visiting the Sumo Museum which is located inside Kokugikan arena.


Sumo brochures will be distributed.


You may have to wait to be taken to your seat if one of the following events is underway at the time: a sumo match, the ring entering procession of the Makuuchi division wrestlers, the ring entering procession of the Yokozuna, the ritual stomping ceremony, or a speech by the Sumo Association (on tournament's 1st and last days). In such a case, you will be taken to your seat when the event is over.


Please refrain from bringing food and drinks into the arena. Please purchase food and refreshments from the vendors inside the arena.


Please inform us of your accommodation and contact details for the day prior to the tour. You will be contacted if the tour is cancelled.


Depending on the number of participants, the tour may go directly to Ryogoku Kokugikan from the pick-up location. In some cases, the tour will go from Hamamatsucho by bus.


Participants may not join the tour midway through.


Children 5 years of age or younger may not join this tour.

If notice of cancellation is received on tour starting date, or in case of failure to show without notice 100% of the tour fare, 1 day prior to the starting date of the tour 40%, 7 to 2 days prior, 30%, 8 days or more days prior, no charge.
