With this popular tour, you can visit the ancient capital's most famous sightseeing spots, including a World Heritage Site. This tour takes you to renowned temples, shrines, and other majestic places of interest.With a great itinerary, this tour is especially recommended for those who will be visiting Kyoto for the first time.

Day 1: Kyoto

After assembling at New Miyako Hotel, you'll join a whole day tour of Kyoto.

You will enjoy visiting the follwong places:

* Nijo Castle (UNESCO World Heritage site)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tour the historical castle completed in 1626, which was built to provide lodging for Tokugawa Shogun and as a palladium for Kyoto Imperial Palace.
[Remarks] Nijo Castle is closed on Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the New Year's holidays. On these days, the tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple.

* Kinkakuji Temple (UNESCO World Heritage site)
-Visit this World Heritage Site, also known as the Golden Pavilion. The wooden architecture is covered in thin layers of pure gold and is surrounded by a beautiful pond.

* Kyoto Imperial Palace (except Mondays)

See the Kyoto Imperial Palace, which was used as the Emperor's residence until about 150years ago.
On Mondays, Tuesdays if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Years's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial House hold event, Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed. On these days, the tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine Instead.
 
  Kitano Tenmangu Shrine (Monday and Tuesdays when Monday is a National Holiday)
On Monday and Tuesdays if a naional holiday falls on the preceding Monday, this tour will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead of the Kyoto Imperial Palace. It is famous for housing the God of scholarship. This shrine's main hall is a designated national treasure. The shrine is especially great to see during the plum blossom and autumn leaf seasons. 
 
Enjoy Japanese/ Western style buffet lunch.

After the lunch, you'll continue to enjoy sightseeing in Kyoto.

Heian Jingu Shrine
Don't miss the characteristic red architecture of this beautiful shrine built to celebrate the 1101 year anniversary of the founding of the city of Kyoto.
[Remarks] This tour will not enter Heian Jingu Shrine's Shin-en garden. 
During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, the itinerary change will still be implemented on the postponed festival date.

* Sanjusangendo Temple
Visit the world's longest wooden structure, housing 1,001 life-size statues of Buddhist Kannon deities dating back to the 13th century.

* Kiyomizudera Temple (UNESCO World Heritage site)
The view of Kyoto from the World Heritage Site of Kiyomizu-dera is superb. The historic shopping lane that leads to the temple adds to a wonderful experience.

You'll arrive back at hotel in Kyoto. Drop-off service is available.

As Kyoto Imperial Palace is closed on the following dates, tours on these dates will visit Kitano Tenmangu Shrine instead. 
(Mondays, Tuesday if Monday is a national holiday, May 14-17 for the Aoi Festival, New Year's holidays, and whenever there is an Imperial Household event).

2.

Nishi Hongwanji Temple will be visited on Sep.25 and Dec.25 instead of Kitano-tenmangu Shrine.

3.

On Tuesdays (or Wednesday if Tuesday is a national holiday) in January, July, August, and December and over the year-end New Year's holidays, Nijo Castle is closed. The tour will visit Ryoan-ji Temple instead.

4.

During the Jidai Festival on October 22, Heian Jingu Shrine is closed to the public and will be replaced in the itinerary by Chishaku-in Temple. If the Jidai Festival is postponed, we will follow suit with the itinerary change.

5.

During the Gion Festival (Sakimatsuri, July 14 - 16), drop-off service to Karasuma Kyoto Hotel and Hotel Nikko Princess Kyoto will be unavailable due to traffic restrictions.

6.

Connection to the Kyoto Maiko Dinner and Kyoto Night Tour is available at Kyoto Hotel Okura.

7.

 This tour will not enter Heian Jingu Shrine's Shin-en garden.
